I know its probably been asked before, but cant seem to find any info. Have my PS3 under the tv, but want to get rid of all the boxes etc under there. Now if i move my PS3 and use a longer Hdmi cable (approx 7metres) Would this effect the quality oof the pic/sound etc?

Thanks.

As long as you buy a decent cable, no. Cheap cables work fine for short runs, 1-2 metres but you need a decent quality cable for longer than that really. I wouldn't spemnd more than £20-£25 though.

I've had no trouble with the rainforest store basics range stuff. I would begrudge paying more than their prices! Longest one I have is a 5m and it works fine.

Has this actually been proved? I thought it was like digital...either will work or not?

Yes and no - it will either work or not, but the chances of "not" increase with longer lengths if the construction is below par. I've used some ultra-cheap cables from eBay which were fine at short lengths (<2m or so), but otherwise identical cables from the same supplier at 10m lengths were hopeless, with constant picture breakup and green flashes.

Obviously once you get to the point where a digital interconnect *does* work, spending any more won't give any improvement whatsoever, although there are plenty of con artists out there who will try and convince you otherwise.
