so my company is looking for one, cant find anything close,

so what am i looking for?

inputs
16 "HD" sources

output
1 output that would display x number of sources at once, (like CCTV)

its going to be hard to find but, we dont need to to display in HD just to ensure the content from HD sources are being displayed. even its downscaled to 480p or even 240p thats fine.

we dont need to be any set input types like hdmi/dvi anything will do. we can work that out later

8-way HDMI will cost around £7000-8000 +VAT. 16-way will be around £10K +VAT. Are those the kind of figures you were expecting?

It's a multiviewer you want, not a multiplexer. 16 channels is a lot, you might have to cascade 5 4-channel ones together. The TVone C2-6104A is about £2k.

Good find on the TVone. My solution includes recording which is probably OTT in a situation like this. Yours would be cheaper for 8-way. But my guess is that he was expecting to do this for a similar price to analogue standard def' devices. Cheap Chinese 16-way analogue-input DVRs can be had for well under £500. I doubt we'll hear from him again.

Crestron do their DVP system that allows for 8 inputs; would then need to cascade from one to other (worth contacting them about this).
I believe Kramer also do multi-window/multi-viewer processor, although i'm sure if they do HDMI/DVI (i suspect it'll be SDI/RGB, so you'd need converters).

Extron and Barco might also be worth looking at.
