8 values/9 axes political test

Well I have done it on my tablet and having problems up loading the result. Suffice to say being a self declared right of centre, a brexiteer, conservative voter of liberal persuasion and having also been declared a Nazi by SC, none of the bars was more than 5% off the centre.

So I declare as a centrist a position I am content with.

I'm a centrist according to 8 values, which I guess is what I'd expect if I thought about it. 60% 'equality' on the economic axis but basically 50:50 on all the others. Explains why the world scares me so much these days!

Loving these comments, people claiming centrists are now right wingers. I always knew there was a fair few commies hiding out in speakers corner.

It's an American test... It doesn't account for differing overton windows elsewhere. The only use is to see where you sit in American politics, which in my opinion is a waste of time as their politics is irreparably broken.

Since the democrats are functionally comparable to the Tories in the UK and CDU in Germany, a centrist is subsequently to the right of them and are right-wingers in this country, but that's the problem with trying to compare different political spaces through the lens of the largely American internet, it's just not as simple as this 'test' makes it appear.

Some of the questions are frankly nonsensical in this country as it depends on the American view of their culture, but i imagine if you gave this test to a significant number of Britons, the results are likely to show a strange picture when it comes to some of the metrics.

I’m a Centrist. Guess I’m mellowing in my dotage.

Is there anything wrong with what I said?

Everything :D

Although to be serious, people will have the idea that you're saying - "I don't agree with it so I'll rubbish it and it's results because they don't match my version of reality where I know that all these people claiming to be 'centrists' based on this test are actually all far right neo-nazi, racist, homophobic scum" - regardless of how grossly inaccurate that idea really is to how you may really think. It's a from of the "Black/White" mentality of some vs the rest of us who understand that life is "Many shades of Grey" and that is reality, not the "With us or against us" mob.

As for the US vs UK in these tests, even the more UK specific tests like https://tpointuk.co.uk/quiz/political-compass/ or https://uk.isidewith.com/political-quiz - will always be flawed because because there is little nuance allowed in Yes/No answers to extremely difficult questions on subjects which need nuance to be answered accurately.

The test encompasses the entire political spectrum, from very little government and a free market to full state controlled markets and large government institutions, it isn't "US centric". If you're a Communist that's fine, but at least stand by your beliefs and stop making excuses for them.

It is US-centric, the questions make this rather obvious. Though I do agree with the more relevant criticism that it's simply not nuanced enough, but that would defy the point of simplifying people's beliefs into a metric.

Got to admit, I continue to be bemused with the idea that criticism of our socialist government is seemingly a communist endeavour...
