£800-950 & Server/HTPC Full Spec

Sorry for another thread.

Dads thinking about replacing the old 550mhz server PC. As well as buying a main PC.

So two specs needed;

£800-950 full spec (Monitor, G11, Microsoft Mouse)
- Used for Gaming
- Used as main PC
- Need; G11, Microsoft Mouse (£20 one), 20-22" WS Monitor
- 8800 GTS/X

£300-500 Server/HTPC
- Plugged into Plasma
- 400GB+ HDD
- Main storage
- HTPC Style Case

Both cheaper the better preferably.

Two gaming ones, one for £800, one for £950.

I'd have a fiddle maybe with the £950 and the type of chip / graphics you want. Some people would want a faster CPU (E6750 or Q6600) and could make do with a 8800 GTS 320MB/640MB, or some don't mind the E2160 with a GTX. I spec'd the E2160 and the 8800 GTX in this instance.

Preferably id want a Quad or a E6600, just seeing what can be had for the money.

If needed, can probably stretch ~£1000, if its to get a much better spec.

One i did before was ~£1100 including P&P, with Q6600 and 8800GTX.

Once we talk it over, my Samsung LE23 could be used as the monitor, however we'll have to see..preferably a monitor would be best though.

Monitor can be 19" if it saves money, can always be an upgrade at a later date.

With a Q6600 G0 and 8800GTS instead of E2160 and 8800gtx, i would go with the latter though or stretch for the quad and gtx if you can afford it.

Wont be overclocking for a while.

How about £800-950 without keyboard/mouse - as they can be 'extra' .

You recon Quad is worth getting now?

I was really tempted by the E6600 for the money..but how would it perform in games such as MoH:A, COD4?

If you can afford the quad then get it, its going to be used in games soon. but if it comes between the gtx, drop the quad ^_^.
