So lately I've been looking to upgrade my AMD rig to an Intel. I'm not really clued up on certain components. Ill drop what I have now & could someone give me an idea on what should I keep and buy? I use it for mainly gaming and just general browsing.

  • MSI Radeon R9 280 Gaming 3072MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card
  • AMD Piledriver FX-6 Six Core 6300 Black Edition 3.50GHz (Socket AM3+) Processor
  • Intel 335 Series 20nm 240GB 2.5" SATA 6Gbs Solid State Hard Drive
  • TeamGroup Vulcan RED 8GB
  • Gigabyte 970A-DS3P AMD 970A
  • SuperFlower Golden Green HX 550W "80 Plus Gold" Power Supply
  • Seagate Barracuda 7200RPM 1TB SATA 6Gbs 64MB Cache
  • Antec GX500 Midi-Tower
  • Raijintek Themis Direct Contact CPU Cooler
  • OcUK 22x DVD±RW SATA ReWriter

Cheers!

Hi,

This is a simple way of getting into a Skylake setup,

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £310.44
(includes shipping: £10.50)

As you can see the board comes with free DDR4 RAM which you will need.

You would also need to add a heatsink if you dont have an aftermarket one that fits socket 1151/56/55 etc (all the same mounting ) which your Raijintek should if it has all the parts so maybe add new thermal paste?

Then buy a faster GFX card.

What resolution do you play? do you have a monitor already that supports maybe Gsync or Freesync?

Cause with £800 and the above leaving around £500 free then you can go all the way to a 980Ti or Fury etc.

Even a R9 390 at £250 is a strong upgrade over a 280.
