hi

i want to set my lads pc up with a wireless conection so we can play serious sam coop plus others is the 54mbps that this conection offers fast enough for trouble free gaming

cheers

Not a matter of if 54Mbps is fast enough but how you plan to set-it-up. Wireless suffers speed drops & or even complete drop-outs depending on range & other 'factors'. Got a wireless connection with bro's PC which is in other room about 10m away & 2 concrete walls in between. Normally throughput at around 22Mbps (for file, internet networking not gaming) :(

Don't know if it still maters, but getting same brand equipment should ensure maximum compatibility = speed, etc.

54Mbps is fine for gaming. Using it myself for gaming and three of us play (albeit an old game) Generals:Zero Hour all the time with no lag issues (this being in a victorian, or older, house with bloody thick walls!) :D

That's with a wRT54GS, Intel 2200BG in the lappy and two netgear 311v1 wireless cards.

I'd recommend 'branded' stuff & PCI WiFi card over USB.

You say just a brick wall, but any interference nearby? e.g. water pipe/bathtub, cordless phone, microwave, etc
