80kmh on skis

Sorry, I didnt look into Spie's Skiing background, just read this thread. I'll have a search...

Yes but come on, be sensible, who spends thousands of pounds just to go down a slope as fast as one can? Clearly people don't just do that and actually go to ski!! :)

Get one leg up in the air and mono-ski, less friction MOAR SPEED :D

Nah best way is to lie back on your skis, head an inch from the snow. Now that IS speed! :p

*I hold no responsibility for you doing this, nor the massive crash that will certainly come of it!*:D:p

Hmm I think a slalom board could match that, but one guy did get to 61.2 mph skiing on my trip in Jan. 61.2mph = 98.49km/h.

Are you actually American or just being a bit of an troll? :p

The Alps from where he lives is around 20 hours driving (with a ferry crossing), quite a long way for europeans, beside it's cheaper to fly...

EDIT: Morel like Miami to DC anyway. ;)

Yeah that's fair enough - I live v.near the ferry. But I still wouldn't buy a LHD 599 if I wasn't going to take every opportunity to drive it in Europe!! I'd enjoy that baby - far more fun than cramming on a tiny plane with hoi polloi!

Tried to beat this today at cairngorm.....failed miserably :D
Got just over 30mph.
To be fair, the snow was terrible (sticky and slushy), the visibility was poor and i only had my smaller freestyle board with me.

Most people hire cars when they go to the mountains and put snow tyres on anyway, well it's what i've done in the past. However, if you see in the motors thread he's put the 599 to sleep for the winter ;)

Just got back but no iphone, i'll see if i can get a blackberry app when im back out in april. Just had my skis serviced and it's made it much better lol didn't realise how sketchy it felt before until now!

You can get gps programs for any smartphone as well as a lot of dumb phones with GPS.

I recently went to Les Arcs in France and did the 7km run from Aiguille Rouge to Villaroger in 15 minutes. It was a great run that involved going down 2 black runs, 3 red and some blue.

I bet i could go 90kmh...Not bad though for an old fart!

I did this in feb, by the time you got to 1200 was there any snow? lol

Straight line speed forwards is fun but all too easy. Now straight lining at 50mph switch (backwards) is when it gets really fun :D

Did three speed runs down a groomed blue at Keystone and on my third run did 60.3mph (97kmph?).

70mph should be a piece of cake next year, once I get my skis waxed. Now if I could only get a plane home.
