8320 upgrade ideas?

What Cpu/motherboard should i be looking at coming from an 8320?
I was looking at making the transition to intel, but I would like to stay AMD faithful if I am honest, but what can i do to help my overclocking? I use a MSI 990FXA-GD65 and cool with a corsair H100 in a pull config.

Any ideas are welcome, not looking to spend too much and will look on shmebay or the like.
 
There isn't really a worthwhile AMD upgrade from the 8320, but any of Intel's current offerings will be a decent performance boost hands down.
 
Got the exact same setup, I can't see any point in upgrading tbh. The cost:performace ratio just doesn't seem that worth it? Well for gaming anyway.
 
Yeah, no real AMD upgrade available - if you need more performance now, then it has to be Intel.

AMD's new CPU platform should appear around this time next year, and is likely to be competitive with equivalent Intel offerings, and a decent boost to your current setup. That's if you can live with hanging on and would like to stay on AMD.

Yeah but i found quite a lot of issues when overclocking, like sometimes it would just randomly freeze, HOWEVER it happens now even when ive put it back down so that leads me to believe its something else.
Also, the CPU gets extremely hot, even with the H100, aswell as the motherboard, so i may need a switch-up in coolers. Ideas? Maybe a loop? Links to some stuff, that could add a 290 in and easily expandable if i want a 2nd 290 or even a 3rd if i get the monitor im thinking of, in the future.

Whilst the intel offerings are better they are not really worth the price difference you call an 'upgrade' however that depends on what you use the system for?

I could quite happily upgrade the 8320 to a 5820k as it would be a good step up but if your only playing BF4 or something the AMD can handle then its not really worth the outlay.

The H100 might be the cause (sort of) of your instability. The trouble with AIOs and water cooling is you don't get a fan passing air over your motherboard VRMs - they can overheat and throttle or cause instability.

The MSI 990FXA-GD65 you have does have a 8+1 VRM setup (better than a 4+1), but MSI's VRMs aren't great and their AMD board were generally a bit pants for overclocking in this generation.

Pointing a fan at your VRMs might be worth trying, if you don't upgrade yet.

Yeah i was told that in the past, a 80mm or a 40mm cabletied to the VRMS would be nice, and chances are in the upgrade, i will, as i think that will solve my issues!

MOSTLY CS:GO and Fifa 16 really, plus the odd game of COD sometimes, i play other games, but not as much, waiting for something to come out and really excite me, but yet to see it yet :(

Thats what i was thinking of doing, however for my new build, Green and black seems the way i want to take it...
Any ideas on leveling this out on AMD? There is a full black board from MSI, but on Intel's side, they have the Sniper series which is green and black :(

Yes I agree that upgrading right now for the sake of it wont yield you huge gains compared to holding back for the inbound shrink and buying the new tech at the right time. This would get you some more longevity and be worth spending on.

You dont appear to be playing demanding games like some on here so play the waiting game and get a better boost for the £ later on.
