Hi all

I need some advice, I have upgraded computer recently but may need to upgrade further.

I now have a 8350 and 290 x in the same water loop with 2400 mm of rad and 4 fans.

The card under load gets to 60 or so, thats fine.

The issue i think is that the cpu cooler block is really old, infact from an armour lcs case.

the CPU hits 65 whilst gaming. I think this is to hot ??? but dont think it is throttling as it shows 80% utalisation in task man.

Q is if i get a newer better designed cpu block will it help get cpu to sub 50 ????

any othr advice is welcome :D thanks

as in a single rad in push pull + your cpu and gpu!?

Doesn't seem like enough rad area to dissipate the heat that will be generated. Surely you will need another 240 rad to reduce the overall heat

no the loop consists of cpu to 120 mm rad to gpu to 120 mm rad. 2 seperate rads each with 2 fans on.

Frustrating as the gpu is fine just means the CPU isnt being cooled enough. The cpu block is realy old so maybe a newer more efficient design will help

I think point being you have 240mm rad total which isn't really enough. I would change block for CPU and add in an additional 120 or at least swap a larger rad in. What case do you have?

skyline has it really. 240mm total rad space for cpu + gpu isn't enough. I would say your loop would need 480mm rad space in total to sufficiently cool

also the order of the system wont really matter as long as you have res above and before pump inlet. The rads will keep the overall system heat at a certain level

cheers guys ill pop down to the oc store at the end of month, will running the CPU at 60 degrees damage it ???

nope but it doesn't give you much room to do anything with it and tbh if it's running at 60deg under water then it kind of defeats the point :/

defo going to need more rad area

what is your current rad?
