Is my SSD performing as it should? It's in right sata port on my motherboard, 6GBPS one.

I was expecting at least 450 on each?

are you using the SATA port which uses the intel controller? some 3rd party controllers don't perform as well as the intel

How could I find that out?

I'm using the Red ones on the Asus extreme IV - http://rog.asus.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/R4E-Subzero-Sense.jpg

It's a fresh install of Windows 8.1 so I haven't actually installed the drivers for intel or the asmedia ones.

The lowest red ports are asmedia, the red ones above them are intel, use intel ports if not already doing so.

It still seems a tad slow still though. Here is my 840 Evo 250GB:

It may just be doing background tasks hence why there's a slight difference. I wouldn't worry too much, you won't see a huge difference between them, and it's still a very good drive
