Hi all,

Quick overview. I am currently running the spec in my sig. However in the coming months I might fee the need to get another 970 FTW. I am running a 850 watt PSU as things stand. Just looking on the web etc I fee this should be adequate to power two 970 FTW. I won't be overclocking the cards but I may boost the CPU to 4.2 or something round there.

The question is, will my 850 be able to handle this fine or would a 1000 be a "safer" bet.

Many thanks

The 850w Seasonic that you have is even overkill. The 970's are so efficient a pair in SLI only pulls around 450w total system power. They are a massive jump in power efficiency over the 700 series.

Yeah yeah, I was changing to a corsair for a few reasons and I was about to get the 850W but thought screw it go for the top one. Why not!!

The HXi units are made by CWT, a downgrade from Seasonic for sure. Hope it works out for you but I would have stuck with the Seasonic personally and spent the money elsewhere in your rig.

Seasonic was great and will soon be getting rehomed. It was incompatible with the CableMod cables and the standard cables were just nasty. So far so good but early days. Although at £170 quid I expect a good product otherwise it would be going back, simples :)
