8500 8GB

Trying to get the above in any combination. Is this doable? From reviews etc it's next to impossible to get 8GB to run at the PC2-8500 spec, anyone had any experience with it?

why would it be impossible to get 8gb of 8500 to run? just curious as i was thinking of upgrading to 8gb myself

Its not my RAM in my P45 board is running around that speed and ive got 8GB.

Yup I've got 8GB of that Kingston and it runs sweet as a nut at PC8500

My 8gb of ocz reaper is quite happy at 1066mhz on my p45 board.
But it wouldn't go above 950 on my P35

well ....I can not get my 8gb of hyperx running at 1066mhz...it will only run at 800mhz....any ideas why not?

are you running in 1:1 ratio and if you are are you sure your CPU is capable of it?

its running a 1:1 at the moment at 800mhz.....i have had it at correct speed with just 4gb installed....I have a Q9550....i assume it is capapble of it....maybe some one can expand on this as I am not an experienced overclocker and am learning all the time.

I had 8GB of 8500 installed for ages, you have to manually set the speed in the bios as 800MHz seems to be the 'safe' default. Check the voltages while you are there as well, they often run at a lower voltage at 800MHz which needs to upped a bit.

If it does 1:1 at your chosen overclock it really doesnt matter about not going faster, The memory is connected via the northbridge and frontside bus, and going faster than 1:1 just moves the bandwidth bottleneck from the ram to the frontside bus anyway.
