850W PSU not enough for an 8800GTX?

Meridian said:
I've run one off a 550W PSU. Try not using the PCI-E dedicated leads, but use molex to PCI-E converters from a couple of other power leads.

Also, have you tried the card in another machine?

Why do you say this? I have mine running off 2 dedicated PCI-E cables? Would this have something to do with my OC restrictions...

While we are on the subject I will ask about that aswell:
When I OC my BFG 8800GTX OC I can get to about 640/2100 but if I go any higher the system will just crash, it doesn't have any artifacts it just crashes? I had the impression that it should go like this when OC:

Stock: Stable
Slight OC: Possible artifacts
Then further OC: crashing and wierd errors.

But mine goes like this:

Stock: Stable:
Slight OC: fine
Further OC: Crash

Please help as I would like to OC my GTX further?

Might be easier to start your own thread :)

One reason to use molex connectors from different rails is to ensure that more than one rail is providing the power, hard to be sure about that with the pre-wired connections as often they would each be using only one rail.

On the other hand few PSUs have enough rails to power two PCI-E connectors from 2 different rails each anyway.
