Just upgraded from a 7300 GT and wow this thing is fast.

It can be said that bioshock played a bit stuttery on the 7300 GT.

Hence the Purchase.

This will have been my third 8800 series card.

Maybe I'm adicted :o

TBH its not that much slower than my 8800 GTX I downgraded from.

Or the 8800 320 MB I sold a few months back.

Plays all the latest games at 1680 x 1050 no problem.

Bioshock runs silky smooth with my Q6600 clocked to 3.6ghz.

Anyone else loving their 8800 series cards?

I love mine too, probably one of the best cards I've bought in recent times. :)

You say it's not that much slower than your old GTX, would you recommend against upgrading from a GTS to a GTX? I am currently considering making such a move (mainly out of boredom.)

MOH:Airborne max settings at 1680x1050 :D!
Glad to hear that because I'm just downloading the demo. :D

I doubt you will notice.

If you only play at 1680 x 1050 waste of money.

If you have money to waste though buy one.

GTX is only needed over 1680 x 1050

8800 GTS 640MB overclocked to 650/2000 is more than enough for this res.

I purely bought mine for Bioshock.

last 3 months I have played no games and the 7300 GT was fine for my work and video editing.

The demo of bioshock running on 7300 GT shocked me into 8800 again.

Think Crysis will run fine at my res with a overclocked quad core too.

me to im really pleased with my 8800 gts 320mb and think its by far the best card i have ever purchased but with the recant disapointing news about the g98 or g92's being 8700gts's or somthing of the like im up for a gtx unless im better sticking with this little beast for now as she is clocked well enough .(in sig if intrestad)

i game at 1280x1024

Very nice, I'm expecting to get an 8800GTS 640mb early next week...hoping to see a big difference over my 7900GT. I'm stoked!

there brilliant cards, proper big beefy beast i can only imagine what a gtx would perform like topped out at max performance :D:D:D:D:D

GTX overkill for 1680x1050? Rubbish :o

Having had both I can make this statement based on first hand experience.

I'm not saying don't get a GTX for this res.

What I am saying is that at this res a 8800 GTS is all thats needed.

I notice no difference in games with my 8800 GTS 640mb over my GTX at this res.

And thats good enough for me.

Won't be a case with a lot of the upcoming games. You will wish you had the headroom but OK whatever your happy with.

I have also had a GTS and GTX and the GTX is easily noticeably faster at this res, so Im not sure what your doing wrong tbfh.

How much did you pay for the GTS

I have no intention of having this card more than 4 months.

Noticeably faster? a ickle bit

Worth the premium for this res?

No

Certainly not worth the 70 quid extra you paid for the GTX over what I paid for my GTS

Your at 3.6Ghz CPU / 1680x1050 Res yea?. If you want to post up some benchmarks in various games perhaps with 8xSSAA I'll be more than happy to compare them. I don't believe the GTX is an "ickle" bit faster. Though maybe I detect a hint of jealousy ;)

Considering some games bring my GTX to it's knees at times I find it complete BS that it's overkill for 1680x1050.

I've got most of all the latest and most graphically demanding games apart from S.T.A.L.K.E.R and i can run most of them at max settings tbh, Bioshock does go down to 35FPS sometimes but you dont feel it at all and i wouldnt notice it going that low if i didnt have Fraps running.

Jealousy?

My dear friend I was running a GTX last noverber 2006.

It was a waste then with the monitor I was using and I see no reason to use one now.

8800 GTS creams through Bioshock at my res and I'm very happy.

GTX is Dull

I want a new gen card from NV not a card thats nearly a year old.

Yeah

The GTX although Flagship is old tech now in GFX terms.

I had my GTX last November that ages ago!

Yeah just like your GTS is old tech, came out last November as well dont forget, although to be fair thats the card you have now so you wont put it down, you only put cards down that you've owned and got shot off. :)

Im not your friend. Considering you want a new gen card you may as well pitch your tent as It's clear as day one isn't coming any time soon :). Aslong as your happy with the GTS it's all good. :)

It's the same old case as what Easy said must go. If he says it's a waste of cash he must be right.
