Well it had to happen eventually! Just sold a Sparkle 8800 512MB GTS on eBay and the buyer as just emailed me this afternoon saying "ive put it in my computer..problem is when i switch on the screen says digital power save mode, cant get past that."

He says he as plugged in power cord and as a 700w PSU. Does anyone know what would most likely be causing his problem?

Just want to stress hand on heart this card worked when I sold it also the buyer only has 7 feedback and only been a member since march. If he claims it doesn't work I guess there's nothing I can do :(

does he have onboard graphics? and does he need to change to the pcie in the bios.

has he reset the bios/cmos?

I sold one on ebay before because he wanted to sli and he didnt know anything, he thought it was just plug and play :o

I have had many problems with selling hardware on Ebay. Fortunatly for me, the problems have been resolved after about 10 e-mails of problem solving.

Unfortunatly, ebay REALLY favours the buyer and seems prepared to screw the seller more often than not, even though it is the seller that pays commission.

I have recently started selling hardware as not returnable, clearly stating this. I rely on my feedback now as proof to the buyer that what I'm selling is in good nick. People as a rule are stupid, ebay doesn't make any allowances for this I'm afraid.

I also now state this, even though sometimes I may let them return the item dependant on circumstances, mainly because of fraudsters on ebay. And as you have said ebay sticks to the buyers side.

The buyer contacted me again to say he got it working by unplugging then plugging the DVI cable back in. He also says that since he did this the screen comes up 2 seconds after it says power save mode which he's happy with and as even left me positive feedback.

I don't know if that sounds right but he's happy and so am I, does make me nervous of using eBay though! But I couldn't even get £30 Inc on MM but managed £44 on the bay :)
