Hi all,

Recently bought a 8800 gts 640mb and my temps seem a bit high.

It idles at about 70c and under load gets to about 80c, is this normal and is it ok at these temps?

Thanks

they dont seem too bad.... slightly high on the idle.... mine will idle at around 63c...however... get yourself riva tuner and you can speed up the fan control, as it is default to 25%... turn it up a bit and you will see a marked improvement...mine idles at 50c turned upto 85%

remember the 8800's can run at high temps no bother...

see this thread on how to change fan settings...

http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=17739216

go on then... someone correct me!

Seems quite high to me

My GTS is currently idling whilst I type this at 50 degrees. The fan is set to auto.

Under a test on 3dmark06 it never went above 59 degrees.

For reference my case is a jeantech phong with twin 120mm case fans set to roughly 50% on the fan controller. (I am also really anal when it comes to cable management so there are no cables impeding air flow)

Temp does seem a tad high, mine will idle at the 52-56 dependant on room temp. however i do have good case cooling, but saying this my core 2 duo chip runs a lot ;) hotter than most, as long as it works..

Where abouts in rivatuner can u alter fan settings?

IIRC there are two places,

One of them is on the same page as the overclocking features (low level driver settings iirc) however its on the second tab.

I can't remember where the other setting is though.

Cheers for that, its bloody noisy now!

Having the same problem with my 8800GTS, Check out the thread Here

I e-mailed BFG as I was getting the same temps as you...

The reply...

"That is the standard operating temperature for the card. Try putting a fan
near the card to try and draw more heat from the card. It will not hurt the
card to run at these temperatures."

Yeah mines idling at 56 at the mo, highest idle temp ive seen it is 62 when its a really warm day, doesnt go above about 68 load though anytime, id say your temps are a bit high, but nothing to worry about though. :)

 I struggle to here my BFG 8800GTS even with the fan on 100%. Its quieter than my old 7600GT (non stock cooler)

EDIT: I just done a blind test with the mrs with the GTS at 100% and then again at 75% and yes I will admit she could hear the GTS at 100% but only just however at 75% she could not here it all over the case fans (which themselves ar enot loud)

I think its just the sudden change in noise, after a few hours you get used to it.

Thanks guys, i shouldnt worry over it too much then, might be tad high but its not too bad for it BFG say

Will try adjusting fan settings anyway.

My case isnt great for airflow though and my room is warm so doesnt help

edit: its dropped slightly to 67c, i also forgot to mention it has a small oc to 650/1000

edit again: just took side of my case off and its dropped to 62c and could still be dropping.

Seems like my case is the cause

on my rig the card core temperature hits about 58.c, thats with 2 120mm case fans and a side 92mm intake fan even with a very messed up cable arrangement

Mine idles at 55c, and stays between 60-70c under load. I blame my Coolermaster 830.

Forgot to mention it's overclocked to 620/2000.
