8800 gtx install help

Just building my new rig which I havent done for years, and Ive just come to install the 8800gtx and its too long for my case. I see theres what can only be described a black fin type thing on the end, is it safe to remove this? This way it will fit into my case, looking at it theres 3 screws and I cant seem to think what this fin type thing could be for. Sorry if this sounds stupid but I'm a bit out of the loop as fas as pcbuidling goes. Thanks in advance.

PS The card is the ocuk 8800 gtx.

Where did you read about removing the blackfin?

I didnt, I'm asking if its safe to remove so it will fit in my case.

Yeah remove it, I had to.

Yeah you can remove the handle on the OEM ones.

I've just installed an ocuk 8800gtx and it came with the "handle" too. Just unscrew and store it for rma purposes if needed.
