I was going to buy a 8800 GTX later this month but have just found out about the ATI R600.

Does anyone know when this card will be out or hasent it yet be confirmed.

And who else WILL be waiting till the ATI R600 comes out and will be buying that?

If you allready have a high end card that you can use (7800GTX, 7900GT, X1800XT, X1900XT etc) & dont mind waiting then so be it. But if you dont have a card to use & want to play then by all means grab the 8800GTX. They are great cards.

That's the situation I'm in and I'm happy to wait.
I want to get a DX10 card - there is no doubt about that.
However I've currently got a 7800GTX and it really does the job so I can wait to see what ATI have really got up their sleeves.
Even if what they have isn't great, in the 2 months or so I have to wait to find out the 8800 range should have taken a nice little dip in price.

DX10 games are not out, so why to get a G80, when the DX 10 games are out and well developed I'll consider a R600, nvidia driver for the 8800 are really crappy, you heard complaints in every forum.
Seems they screw it.

Because it's also much faster in DirectX 9 than any card out and has the best image quality?

If my X1900XT was struggling in games, which it isn't at all, I would definitely buy an 8800GTS/GTX.

If i got paid a £1 for every time i read that phrase, i would be able to afford a 8800gtx sli setup for everyone.

Well im waiting till R600 is released then spending my pennys. Dont want to shell out all that money to find out R600 destroys the G80.

Also the decent DX10 games are comeing out in the next few months, so i can survive for now :)
