8800 Problem HELP!!

OK - i get THE SAME SCORE when i set the clock speeds back to stock - its not overclocking in Rivatuner - do i have to do something in particular?

Overclock the CPU and GTS see what you get now, I think that is about right now.

Nope still way out it you ask me. I was wrong from memory earlier, I've just checked now I have got home and with 4200+ at stock and 8800 GTS at stock evga overclock speeds of 585/1800 I get 13920 on 3dmark05 which is more gfx based so he's still got major problems

9534 is high with a cpu at 2.4 ?
i am hitting about that with my cpu at 2.9 and 320mb at 650/1700/950

currently im getting about 7600 in 06 - according to 06 - im not using futuremark approved drivers - however, the drivers im using are directly from the nvidia website and newer than the ones futuremark want me to download and use - im bloody confused.

Oh one more thing - im turned on D3D Overrider from the rivatuner memory and have turned off all the v-sync options. Howevere whenever i run a 3d application it makes that windows 'bee-bump' sound. Any thoughts?

The above is the rivatuner diagnostic report i get - look ok? im not sure but it doesnt look like its registering any overclocks?

GIBBO - can you help at all? - Another Update: I CANT turn on the DX10 surfaces in Bioshock........ - OH wait - its Vista only - ok ignore that.

In rivatuner, when you set the overclock sliders to 650/2.2, did you click on "test" and then (when it passes the test), did you click on "apply"?

650/2200 seems like a very high o/c for that card, my GTX can only do 640/2000. If you hadn't been testing/applying your overclocks properly, then I'd suggest starting with something lower, like your original 580/1700, and then move up gradually to find your card's max stable overclock.

yep - i ran test each time and then clicked on apply - and nothing happens apparently...... its SO strange - when i click test - it just does nothing - no pop ups or anything and then i click apply. So it seems to be fine in that regard although it is becoming very apparent that its not overclocking as i ask it to

The test only give a message if the overclock is unstable, if it is fine it allows you to apply, but also set the overclocking to start when Windows starts otherwise it defaults to the standard clockspeeds.

I think my 3DMark'06 default score was ~8200 and the '05 score was ~16000 with a [email protected]

ok i have officially given up on trying to get the correct results from my 8800GTS. I have just bitten the bullet and spent £300 on this bundle:

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=BU-037-OK&groupid=701&catid=339&subcat=

If that doesnt sort out the problem then i give up. Im also wiping my C: drive and completely re-instaling XP with fresh drivers etc. I reiterate - if that doenst sort the problem then i will shave my head and become a monk or something....... or go get drunk...... or both...

Have you gone into the nvidia control panel & set everything to performance, turned of aa & turned off V-sync?

that's a very odd way of spending £300, could have gotton a MUCH better spec for the money...

I would be obliged if you could show me? Each item specified on an individual basis comes out more expensive than the bundle package costs - thus, its cheaper to buy them as a bundle package - if there were a better option for the money then i would expect overclockers to have offered it - as such, they have not.
