As title - a little help in deciding which make to buy - from. I know the cheaper normally means inferior components - but sometimes is it just the brand name you pay extra for?

Any information would help in me deciding wich one to go for.

Thanks in advance.

Cheapest, they are all made in the same factory, they then have different stickers put on, bundled with some crap and then overpriced.

As crap is useless, get the cheapest.

These guys dont sell the Inno3D cards, so id edit out that price for them as its not allowed, id just get the OcUK one as its on special for £352, but as above they are all made in the same place so are all the same, they just have different warranties etc... for the brand their from, so if you want a good warranty get the BFG. :)

Yeah, just get the cheapest.

hmm no way, my 7800gtx OCuk branded one blew up after 2 weeks then 4 weeks to get it RMA'd via them.

BFG one working fine after 13 months.

They maybe all made in the same factory but the cream of the crop is badged and the crap is sold OEM or bought by 3rd rate resellers like Sparkle

Thanks for replies. sorry about putting the price for inno in the post - I didn't mean to break any rules. :(

cheers guys

prolly going the 2 year warranty version, as it will be out of date in 6 months time. Technology huh.

no standard 8800s are clocked superior, except the XFX XXX edition.
Yes, go for the best price/customer support ratio. Im personally going to buy the cheapest, as I cant imagine anyone having THAT bad tech support. Id rather experience things for myself. To be fair they all have the same chance of failing too, none are hand selected for certain manufacturers etc, dont listen to whoever was being ignorant saying that further up.

Erm what?

How is this of any relevance?

All 8800's are made in the same factory, i didn't mention anything about the 7800gtx

^ its no relevance, hence my post. :)

Since when we're sparkle 3rd rate? they just sell bog standard hardware, no fancy crap put on them, no Tshirts, no frills warranty of customer support.
They hit the pricing sweet spot though, like the other '3rd rate resellers' palit etc.

all electronic components have a + or - 10% or 5% tolerance which can add up to an underperfoming board or worse(die after a few months),so id go for the ones with the best warrenty and not the cheaper ones

....as with everything you get what you pay for!

8800 which make

i would reccomend bfg, moved up from an xfx 7900gt extreme to a bfg 8800gts great card runs all current games on max settings, and its very quiet compared to my last card which sounded like an industrial turbine on overdrive

I would recommend the cheapest card tbh. If you are going to keep the card for years then go with the BFG or EVGA. If not, get the cheapest.

Anandtech 8800 round up

OK the round up is a couple of months old, but it will give you an idea. They seem to be suggesting that although the boards are all the same there is small changes different companies are making to BIOS and cooling.

Personally I was going to get the stock EVGA 8800gtx as the round found it the best for overclocking. Then EVGA released the 8800GTX with AC3 cooling, which is overclocked already. So that's what I've ordered, it's not the cheapest but if buy what you want from a reputable company you should be OK.
