I've recently got myself an XFX 8800GS. It's a decent enough performer for me; went from 4500 3d Mark06 on my 7600GT to 8500 on the 8800GS, and that's without overclocking anything yet. One thing though, the fan is helluva noisy, and XFX made the card without variable speed.
Anyway, I was looking at the Zalman VF900-CU, but I just remembered that I still have an older zalman, maybe the VF700-CU (2/3rds large fins, 1/3rd smaller fins), leftover from an old card. Would this provide sufficient cooling for this more modern card?
Also, I know I no longer have the memory heatsinks for this, are they required?
