8800GT @ 1x?!! Help!

One thing I have noticed is that your "Texture fill rate" is very low, Mine is at 39.2 GTexels/s although I have my 8800gt overclocked at present.

EDIT - I'm using the newest version GPU-Z 0.1.7. I have an asus P5B deluxe and pretty sure it is'nt PCI-E 2.0 and its seems to be working fine ( PCI-E 2.0 x 16 @x16 )

Yah texture fillrate is 4x higher on GPU-Z 1.7 compared to earlier versions... mines showing lower 40s...

My 8800GT shows: PCI-E 2.0 x16 @ x8 (using a 650i board - planning on SLIing a couple of 8800GT)

I suggest trying PCI-E bus speeds from 99-102 as one of these usually fixes it... if not you may need a BIOS update.

Anyone know a quieter and better performance card than the 8800GT for about ~£200?

Mine is becoming incredibly loud and its getting annoying tbh.

Are you overclocking your system at all?

I find my 965P-DS3 and 7900GS revert to 1x PCI-E if I'm using an unusual FSB frequency. Choosing 200, 266, or 333 gives me a full 16x, otherwise it's like the board/card try to negotiate a normal PCI-E speed, fail, and fall back on 1x - maybe it's some sort of stability safeguard.

Annoying, cos it means that my E4300 @2700 MHz is worse for gaming than @2400 (stock cooler kinda panics @3000, can't go there for long) :(

Fixed it!

Uninstalled the drivers, used driver cleaner, took the card out, put it back in firmly, attached the 6pin. Then I set the BIOS to all defaults and installed the latest Beta drivers.

Works great now at x16, getting low 40s in Crysis bench.

Thanks guys.

Phew.
