http://www.thermaltake.com/product/Power/TR2power/w009394/w009394.asp

running the specs in my sig.

or do i need buy another psu like a corsair or something.

running 2 dvd rw (ide) and a hard drive (ide), and a floppy drive, core2 duo e4400 (not overclocked yet).

EDIT: oh and will it work on a normal pcie 16x slot or does it haev to be the newer 2.0 ?

It's good...

Well, the dual 12v rails on the PSU are quite low by modern standards (14A/15A) but I would have thought would cope with your modest rig. :)

Hey, if not just buy a new PSU right?!

It will work in a "normal" PCI-E slot ;)

hmmm think i might get a new psu and keep this one as a backup (its fairly new too)

corsair hx520 is one i can get for £66 inc vat/postage so that looks pretty good. or is the vx450 enough ?

Hello Blackhawk47, as unclepablo has already stated, the particular power supply that you have is a dual rail unit with the +12V1 rail being able to provide 14 amps and the +12V2 rail being able to provide 15 amps. Now, since you can't load up both rails to to their maximum simultaneously, you have a power supply unit that will be able to deliver around 25 amps. I do apologise for not being able to give you an exact +12Volt rail rating of your power supply unit, I have had a look around the internet but I am unable to find any relevant information.

So, without knowing the exact amount of amps that the Thermaltake Pure Power TR2 500 wattage power supply can supply on the 12 volt rail, I can't really say that the system that you have along with an Nvidia 8800 GT graphics card will run absolutely fine on that power supply unit. Though, since Thermaltake pretty decent power supply's, I would say that it would actually run your system fine. :)

is the vx450 enough ?

As LoadsaMoney has already said, the Corsair VX 450W ATX PSU will run your system absolutely fine if you are looking at purchasing a new power supply unit. :)

It will just run it. Though if you were going for a GTX I would have recommended a new PSU. Ive seen people run power hungry cards on terrible PSUs before. You should be fine.
