8800GT Stock?

Oh dear god, please don't tell me you're buying a pre-overclocked card (that doesn't have anything in it's bundle that makes it worth it)?

Only overclocked card anyone should be buying is the Crysis EVGA pack, as it's got a £30 game in it.

Nobody knows how well a standered card will clock and there doesn't seem to be many pre-clocked cards available which imo points to them not being hugely clockable. At least I and others who purchase the OC2 for around an extra £20 know that its already a good clocker so to speak :)

I would also like to say thanks to Gibbo for keeping us updated on this and for me the 24" OCuK Monitor (bought one of those as well). I think it's fantastic that someone from the shop spends so much time on the forums helping us out :)

HI there

PNY and Point of View just turned up as well, hundreds of them! :D

So now OcUK has in stock the following:-

BFG 8800 GT 512MB OC
BFG 8800 GT 512MB OC2
Leadtek 8800 GT 512MB
PNY 8800 GT 512MB
Point of View 8800 GT 512MB

We also have the Zotacs due in later, but those are all pre-sold and possibly more Gainwards and Asus too arrive as well.

Now thats called kicking our competitors asses having such a good range actually in stock and available. :)

Along with a price bump to the products that have just arrived.

The problem with some preclocked cards can be availability. XFX are notorious for this, try finding a retailer selling the 8800gtx xxx edition, its practically impossible and last i heard they stopped making them as maybe 1 in 50 cards was clocking to the specs they were trying to push. This obviously causes trouble if you have to rma and they offer you a lower clocked model.

BFG though are more conservative with their clocks, xfx seem to get 1 or 2 cards clocked retardedly high and then make it an sku and expect their other cards to clock to the same level. At one point there was an xfx 7800 (or posibly 6800) that ocuk had listed that was clocked stupidly high and i never once seen it listed as in stock.

what is EVGAs excuse

HI there

I am pulling my hair out with them, when you get an email that says shipping now but no details is very poor. When I try to find out whats shipped I get back its not shipped yet but will soon, absolutely terrible poor service and if I had know this was going to happen I'd have never have put their products up for pre-order.

Ultras are a waste of money

HI there

That depends from which perspective you look at it.

If you've got plenty of money and want the best you will buy an 8800 Ultra. If you have an SLI compliant motherboard you'd buy 2 Ultras.

For 1920x1200 and higher resolutions the GTX is still king and for those who have the money to spend and want the bes then the Ultra/GTX fits that bill.

However when it comes to value for money the 8800 GT is unbeatable in that regard.

unbelievable

I've just changed my order to a BFG OC2 from an EVGA SC.

I think it was a good move ..

i thought the general opinion now was that the GTX wasnt cost effective now that the GT is close in performance

but i see your point of the Ultra's and if i had the money i would go for SLI Ultra which was the point of getting the 680i SLI so i could do go SLI

and i would have at least gone GT SLI if i hadnt lost so much money recently on ebay

Good to see the BFG OC2 have come in, and are showing as having 10+ in stock, although my pre-order from 8th November is still in warehouse queue which is a little worrying. I can only assume / hope / pray the OCuk guys are making their way through the pre-orders still (if the items only came in an hour ago).
