.

Recently, started about 4 days ago, i stated getting problems when initially botting up my pc. The actual pc would run fine (i think) but nothing would show on the monitor. The monitor light would come on, so it IS recvieveing the signal, but nothing wold show. Thats the first 5 or so tries. Then i'd get a flash of the first bootup screen (where it does the memory count), then nothing else at all. This would happen asround 10-15 times. Then After this, it again, just gives me a flash of the mem count screen, then goes blank up until where the Windows XP load screen fades in, nd from then on, it shows on the screen and is as normal... ive got the latest drivers for my card, and as far as im aware nothing is broken. iive probably screwed something up though.

i was gunna try a format but i dont see that making much difference. does anyone have any ideas? or know of any problems similar?

cheers

just happened again, this time, my pc was on all the time, but went into standby, (obviously making the monitor go blank), and then it wudnt come bak on again, and about 15 resets later it finally started showing the right thingas again.. ARG wtf is goin onnn

could i be RAM? could i have damaged the 8800gts with the overclocking?

in the bios load default settings and see if that did it.

or reset your mobo, then reload default settings

if not,re-seat you your cards on the mobo to make sure all is ok.
if not, unplug evrything just leaving your 8800 try that.

I had intermitent problems with my monitor losing singal sometimes when i booted up. Turned out to be the DVI cable dying. Took me forever to figure out too. :p

What monitor is it?,does it have dvi or vga or conponent if it is a hdtv like mine if so try a different connection to tv like vga/dvi/hdmi or try the second connector on youir 320 with the same cable, as i had conponent going into my tv and dvi-hdmi and dvi-vga willnot show picture unless it been set up with dual monitor or what ever it called.

ive jujst got an LG flatron L1915S, thats a DVI cable right? i diunno how could be damaged at all, its never moved or anything :S hmm, ill try resetting the bios in the mornign and reseat everything. cant do jack tonight as i have a bf2 war in a bit :/ thanks forthe help lads. if you have anymore ideas feel free to let me know as im praying its not my graphics card :(

Try a different DVI cable. Mine started to show signs a few months back and it gradually got worse. You can pick one up for a fiver. :)

A friend's suggested that it could quite possibly be the PSU being too weak or faulty, as it does seem as if the graphics card isnt firing up properly or something. (which explains the flashes of screens im getting). what you guys reckon to that?

PS ive tried the diff Output socket on the 8800- no luck
ive reseated everything - no luck
I've reset the bios to defaults - ill find out tomorrow, as it's working ok now (once its fired up properly, its fine from then on, until it all shuts off and settles down again it seems)

thanks

unplug all the drives and leave it on the POST/BIOS screen for a bit. If it is fine then it could be your PSU, as unplugging the drives could lower the load.

Unlikely, as that is a quality PSU, but it has to be something.

the following list is things i have tried, and whether they worked or not...

Re-seating everything -Nope
alternating the Ram and which slots i use - Nope
Unplugging the dvd drive and HDD to free up some power - Nope
Changing the power lead connection to my 8800gts - Nope
Resetting the Bios to defaults - Nope

WTFFFF is goin on ?!?! Could it be my graphics card is knackered from overclockign it?

ya im gonna try that today i think. if its not the card, then WTF?!?
meh, i hope it is the card, that way i can just get a replacement under warrantee yeh?

is that easy enough to do?

GRR
right

it cant be my 8800gts, cause i just tried my brothers 6600gt and the same problem happens

It cant be the PSU, cus i freed up some power by discnonecting the dvd drive and HDD. Ive also changed the ports that the pci-e uses on my psu, and also tried diff cables (the one that goes to the 8800)

It cant be the drivers cus ive tried 2 differetn versions (and also itll work flawlessly from now on, as its decided to work this once).

Its not my RAM cause ive tried diff RAM, one 1gb stick in al the slots etc.

ITs no the Monitor cable as ive just tried my brothers and the same thign happens.

Re-seating everything -Nope
Changing the power lead connection to my 8800gts - Nope
Resetting the Bios to defaults - Nope

This leaves either the HDD, Mobo or the CPU...
what else could i try?
