As far as I understand all standard 8800gts (320 and 640) roll on the same reference board so would this mean they all clock to the same levels ? - my current one is an Inno3D and it seems very happy at 600/900 I just don't want to crap out the memchips by going too far as has happened in the past on different nvidia cards of mine!

Hmm some room for more then I see :D - observing Rivatuner the core is at 60~ degrees idle too it seems

You should get another 50 in the core I think, mne is happy at 680/2000

Have ran it at 710/2100 but it dont like it.

When memory overclocking do you need to have heatsinks on the chips in case you use water cooling?

Also for overclocking do you need to have a special program running every time windows starts or you flash the bios so that the speed is as such without a proggie forcing it?

the stock 8800 coolers cover all the ram chips :)

RivTuner handles ocing easily too, it loads a service at startup

Almost every 8800 GTS can do 631/1000. Some can do more. If your lucky you will get 650+ on the core and 1100 on the memory.

If you water cool, you can get the core into the high 700s

had mine at 650, but it seemed warm, however it ran fine and dandy. Althou i just use 625 now for gaming, as its ample.

I did notice the shut down temp of the gpu was at a stagering 127 degrees in the Nvidia util... wouldnt fancy seeing more than 90 tbh lol
