8800GTS with 112 shaders, unlockable by software/drivers?

So no one can actually prove the shaders are cut internally, it's just the word of someone from Nvidia?

it's all a little out of my league i could make wild assumptions and guess this and that but ill just say that it would be a promising boost for gts's so ill keep my fingers crossed and be hopefull.

If it was anything other I think someone would have discovered a way by now, even the Rivatuner guy was unable to activate them so I doubt it is done at software/bios level.

The pipelines will either be severed on die or perhaps the PCB's are wired slightly differently.

Well here's my wild speculation - the shaders are neither cut nor disabled, they just simply aren't wired up in the first place!

Wouldnt that require a different process line to make it then.
I think thier cut.
Their basically pipelines but are formed in groups of 16. Cut one group and you get 112 shaders.
Cut another group and you get 96 shaders.
Theres nothing different to dx9 gpus as they use the 90nm process. It wont be any harder.

If they are cut how come they can still be found by software in the first place?

They might have told people that to try and put them off trying to re-enable them :)
