Didnt realise so many people would post on that topic..Different topic now anyway, but I did order Thursday it was next day delivery, and there was a drop down menu where I chose Friday 11th..

Anyways its arrived.. I've opened the box and theres a big dent in the actual graphics card box, its actually pierced and the bracket looks a tad bent..

Worth opening and trying or just phone for another one? Hope I'm not breaching some forum rules with this, apologies if I am..

I'd bend it back and test it, if it works fine, if it is dodgy RMA it like you were going to anyway.

I'd claim the postage cost back either way.

Yeah, its a BFG one suprising how they get bent like that..That was another hefty thread about a bent piece of metal..That other thread though, thats like proper bent. Mine pales in comparison:rolleyes:

I'll give them a call, log it, try it out and go from there..

But as mentioned, it seems worrying an impact that strong to pierce the box and bend the metal, you dont know what else couldve been damaged..

I would simply send it back straight away.

The delay may be annoying but that said if it fails after installing it then that would be even more annoying.

Phone them and send it back straight away.

you'v got pictures proving it arrived like that, give it a go bending it backa nd install it, whats the point in rma'ing a working card?
I received my x800xtpe like that, took the pictures, bent it all back into shape and hey presto.. working card.

I've just sent it back, hopefully get a replacement in a few days..

SOmething must have had to hit it quite hard to punch thru the box and bend the bracket, its only a small bend, but components such as this tend not to react well to impacts.

because it would kill its re-sale value
It has gone from as new,
to "came with a bent plate which i bent back into place, with a broken box pics below"

Hmm, what's up with BFG cards' quality nowadays? All the threads I've read so far about problems like dead, bent cards are BFG related. OCUK advises that if the package is damaged contact them for an RMA immediately. You've done the right thing. I bet if it were their money people would not so quick to bend it back and see if it works!

I could never do this. If I receive anything I purchase online and it's been bashed around, back it goes. Would you go into a store and buy a product with cosmetic problems (which you do not know affect the functionality) at the normal price? I wouldn't.

I'd send it back, whilst that area is easy to bend back, whats to say it did'nt damage something on pcb, and as a result the card developes fault further down the line intsead of straight away...

How was the card packaged for delivery...

How was the card packaged for delivery...

It was just in a larger box, u might be able to see it in the corner of the photo, but apart from that nothing to protect it, there was room for it too move about..The outer box was fine no damage, cant say that was the original one from OCuk though..

i had the same, or be it slightly less significant, problem when i ordered my BFG 8800 GTX OC2. The box was crushed in a few areas. not no noticable damage to the card though, and everything worked ok - but the card was showing as an OC! Someone forgot to flash the BIOS to the OC2 version. So its been sent back!
