8800gtx overkill?

I think a 24" 1680 by 1050, would be good, i agree that while high res creens looks great they do require massive hardware to get consistant and high framerates on, i'd like a 24" screen but am likely to go for 22", the fact it's both slightly cheaper, but more importantly less demanding on hardware being a big factor, i like to run high details and get high stable framerates, on a 24" screen i'd need serious hardware to run the latest games at a solid 60 odd fps

Don't understand that logic at all, 32" is great as long as your at least 1.5-2 meters from the screen, a 24" display with slightly higher resolution would be fine as a desktop display imo and the low resolution would mean you can enjoy better performance then a 24" 1920*1200 display.

I don't think I sit close enough to my 2407WFP to really see all the detail and doubt most other users do either.

do you really think that? try running your 24" at 1440x900 and then tell me you dont notice a difference lol
