8800GTX

I have an old A8N-SLI Deluxe mobo. At the moment one of the PCI-E slots holds a 6800 GT, and the other holds a PCI-E x4 RAID controller.

If I change my GFX card to a 8800 GTX will I get the full performance out it? I believe the 2 PCI-E x16 slots on the A8N-SLI share their bandwidth, so if two cards are installed they get 8x/8x bandwidth each.

Since I need the 2nd PCI-E slot for my RAID controller I'm guessing whatever graphic card is in the other slot is limited to 8x bandwidth instead of 16x.

Can anyone clarify this for me?

afaik it only goes 8X/8X if your running SLI, so you should be fine

What speed you getting with your 6600gt? use CPUZ to check. I think your mobo operates at 8x2 when two GFX cards are installed and when one card is installed the other slot operates at 1x speed if it is not a GFX card in it, maybe wrong but check your current speed with cpuz.

Should still run at its full 16x, as said above, will only go to 8x/8x when your doing SLi, a raid controller shouldn't affect it.
