Hi I'm thinking if upgrading to a 24" monitor. Will my 8800GTX be able to cope with current games (MW2, L4D, ARMA2 etc) at high quality settings at a 1920x1200 resolution ?

If not what GPU upgrade would you recommend ?

You will be able to play them at that sort of rez, but no aa. Depending on the rest of your spec, you may be able to get away with it. A 5850 would be up for the job no problem. Also, the 5870 :D

Cheers guys. 58XX are probably a bit too steep if I'm getting the monitor as well. If my 8800GTX can't cope, I may hold out 'till Easter time when I'll have a bit more available cash.

Any thoughts on a 4890 or a 5770 ?

I play MW2 on a 5770, maxed out at 1920x1080 with 4xAA and it's silky smooth all the way through.

Thanks all for the input. If I'm reading it correct, then I may just get away with the 8800GTX but it's borderline (CPU is a Q6600 @3Ghz).

The 4890 and 5770 should be able to cope on max settings, but you don't get Dx11 suopport with the 4890.

Time to get thinking......

I would go with the 5770 tbh. As you said, you are going to get a cheap card for now until you get some cash available. Good little cards the 5770, they run so cool and use not much power atall. Plus, gives you a sneak preview on how dx11 looks.

If I get a 5770 now, how much improvement would I see if I upgraded to 2 5770's at a later date ?

5770's in crossfire scale very well. 5770's in crossfire beat a single 5870 in everygame. Very good cards for your money but then when crossfired, your restricted, as you can't go further with the performance.
