i currently have a love for western digital n idk why lol, for my os im using the 160 SE with the 8Mb cache and a 250 with 8mb also i belive thta i use for storage

was wondering **** i take out the 160SE n replace it with an the 160RE 1600YS, would there realy be a differance?? :)

Maybe from newer drive technology but there isn't likely to be a huge difference between 8mb and 16mb, after 8mb it is the law of diminishing returns, it isn't like the jump between 2mb and 8mb. :)

Might be a bit faster if you replace it with the WD1600AAJS because of the single, high-density platter design of the AAJS. I think the AAJS is 8MB cache, but the higher data transfer rate probably outweighes the 16MB cache.

But I agree with semi-pro waster in saying that there's unlikely to be a huge difference between 8MB and 16MB just from the size of the cache.
