ISTR that this (which disks) was asked before on here. The answer given was that you'd get a Seagate drive (either the Barracuda or the new NAS drive depending on stock levels).

In addition to the dual core versus single core processor, the 213+ has a floating point unit, whereas the 213 doesn't.

HP Microserver an option?

Twice the number of bays, more CPU power and expandability options. Couple with FreeNAS which is free etc.

What does the floating point unit do?

If you have the budget I would consider the DS713+. Purely for the extra performance the Intel Atom chip brings and the fact you can expand it with a 2 or 5 bay expansion module if your storage needs ever change.

Go for a 4 bay NAS for future expandability. Don't make the mistake of buying a dual bay NAS and then have to upgrade it in a years time due to space limitations.

Synology DS413 or DS412+ NAS is more suitable for business applications along with 4 x WD 3TB red's in a raid 5 array giving you 9TB of storage.

Or for now just buy 2 drives and put them in a raid 1 array then expand later.
