8v vs 16v

Correction wasn't needed.

The 1242cc 8V FIRE in the 176 Punto came in 55, 60, and 72 flavours.

60 and 75. The 75 being multi point fuel injection running an '866' cam which is slightly hotter than the one found in the single point fuel injection engines. The 75 also had ever so slightly larger inlet ports (by 1mm iirc)However, the same cam and valves can be found in post may 1997 Punto60's with the engine code 176.B4

The the 55 is still 1108cc though.

My point was just about comparing similar setups, compaing an 8v SPI to a 16v MPI is going to show the differences in fueling as well as the differences created by the amount of valves.

in regards to the 16v mk1 puntos their great fun :)
revvy as hell and a very close ratio box make for fun progress :) they really need a 6speeder bolted in tho ant its an easy conversion using a box out of a elx

need any info just give us a holler god i miss my wee punto s310dsc `

you get 1 for a few quid :p:D

I like the Tipo 16v's badge "Sedicivalvola"

i cringe a bit sometimes when i see the 16v badges on my golf in pretty much bright red, but surely its less ghey if it came out of the factory like that.

i love seeing cars with loads of stickers/badges (shopping lists over them)

a guy that parks near me has 'OZ WHEELS' on his, despite having steelies and hubcaps haha

Ive always wondered, does "Twinport" on a Corsa mean 16v? Or does it mean something else? Ta!

How so? 8 valves are arguably better as they increase swirl within the chamber

Which is where the latest alfa V6 excels, it becomes an 18v at low rpm, blocking off half of the inlet valves.

In truth it's a combination of getting the fuel and air mixed, getting the mixture into the combustion chamber, and getting the exhaust out (scavenging). I just wanted to answe the question to a level the OP understands, not to make a bullet-proof statement.

If it was only to aid the mixing then the JTS engines would all be 8v.

i thought the twinports were 2 inlet and one exhaust port per cylinder, so 12v not 16v.
