Went to JJB to get some new trainers and on the way to checkout I saw a NY cap and thought I'll buy it, didn't plan to buy a cap! Got into car with dad and heard something about a plane crashing, it just happened. Arrived home and mum said she saw the 2nd hit live. We couldn't believe it, I honestly thought WW3 was going to start that day. Had to go for a hospital appointment, but we didn't move before and continued when I got home, watched Sky News all night long.

:(

I'd finished work early. Had just come online when I got an IM from a friend saying that a plane had hit the WTC and to turn my tv on. A few minutes after I turned it on I saw the second plane hit live.

I was working for a now-defunct web development company. I recall the boss coming in a bit ashen faced and mentioning one of the Towers had been hit, we all stopped work and got badly buffered video from the news sites due to the immense traffic that day under the impression it was a terrible accident. In the end we got a reasonable speed feed from a japanese news site, and watched in stunned disbelief as a second plane hit the other tower and realized it was something a lot more sinister.

I had the week off work and I had my alarm to wake me up so I could watch... Quincy :o

Put the TV on, Neighbours finished then went over to BBC News flash, saw the first plane hit the tower then the second, spent the rest of the day running between IRC and the TV.

Really doesn't feel like 10 years ago, remember it like it was yesterday.

Bunking off school at a mate's house, 4 of us dossing about on his shiny new PS2.

I've always understood it as our generation's Kennedy assassination.

I was helping out with a murder case.

I sat in the car while a colleague went into an address for a short detail. He came out with a shocked face and said planes had crashed into the towers.

When we got back to the station, it was empty and silent. Everyone was crammed in the canteen watching the live report.

Did the OP forget the date switch-a-roo?

I had just got home from school, Mum already had beeb on and we watched it in silence for the rest of the evening.

I was doing some landscape gardening during my summer off uni. I was only listening to it on the radio which was surreal. When they said the tower had collapsed I had all sorts of visions going through my head of half of New York being flattened. I can also remember having quite a big argument with my dad who I was working. He said it could have been done by an American like timothy mcveigh. I knew it was Osama but couldn't remember his name.
