9/11 10 years ago

I was having a well deserved day off college, and was also pretty high.

Turned the TV on and I thought it was some sort of daytime tv film, but then I thought it was a little bit too hectic to be a film...

Like many people, I was at work. Reports came through the Reuters system that there had been a plane crash in New York but as the horror unfolded, we were all stunned mesmerised in silence.

RIP the victims of both 9/11, London 05 and to all those that have fallen since in the fight against terror.

apart from boredom and possibly annoyance that 7/7 wont be given anywhere near the same amount of coverage in the UK.

The British tend to get on with it. They dealt with the blitz and they'd 30 odd years of it from Northern Ireland before 7/7. The most shocking thing about 9/11 and 7/7 was how so few could cause so much carnage.

Well said.

Nuked whom? The whole of the Middle East and parts of Central Asia? Excellent thinking.

I was on exercise in Oman when we heard what happened. Within 6 weeks I was at Bagram Airbase arguing with supposedly friendly Afghani's.

Funny how your life changes because of something that happens halfway around the world.

I was working at BA compass Center, I had to go to the crisis room to deliver some paperwork, the whole thing unfolding on a big screen there. Then in the cabin crew lounge the TV was on and all the crew ready for the days flights standing dumb founded watching as the second plane hit. Also had phone calls to deal with from worried parents as they didn't know the extent of the threat. I remember speaking to the supervisor in the office and he dismissed it as probalby a light aircraft or something, he was soooo wrong but I wish he had been right! was on early shift so watched the rest of it when I got home.

A day I will never forget, RIP to all the victims and of course on 7/7.

I was testing cookers in a Lab when a co-worker who had got the radio on said that a plane had accidentally flown into one of the towers.
A little bit later he said that another plane has now crashed into the other tower and that's when we knew it was terrorists or something.
A bit later he said one of them has fell down and then the other.
I got home and watched the News non stop until about 1 in the morning.

I remember the day well.

I was 12 and just started year 8 in school, throughout the whole day at school nobody knew what was unfolding in America at all and it was only until I got home from school that I discovered what was going on in New York. If I am right I think I arrived home from school 10 minutes after the second plane hit the other tower and I remember walking into the living room just seing replays of the second plane hitting the other tower over and over again, with the Sky News reporter saying that another place had crashed into the other tower minutes earlier. I remember me, my sister, Mum and Dad all watched the news for hours till late at night.

I will never forget that terrible, terrible day for the rest of my life.

RIP to all those who lost their lives that day & also to those in the 7/7 attacks - Liam

Why is everybody asking everybody what you was doing?

I know I know... I was in fact watching news channel..

I had just came home from school and saw it on the TV at home, my parents were in the front room watching it. Due to the time difference, hometime at school was pretty much when it happened.

Then I remember staying there and watching them both collapse. That was quite scary at the time.
