£900 MSI GX60?

I'm hoping they go back to £899 soon and I will order. I'm looking to move away from my gaming desktop to a laptop and this would do the job just fine. Due to moving some funds around taking longer than expected I missed out on the daily deal last week.

Let us know what you think of it and how it plays games.....

Soooo tempted.

Currently have a 2 year old GX660R with an i5-460m and an ATI HD5870M (in mint condition)….reckon I can get circa £450-500 on the bay for that.

So for an extra £400-450 I could snag one of these which should offer up a pretty good increase in gaming performance.

From what I can see from Notebook Check the i5-460m and A10-4600M are almost exactly the same performance wise….the 7970M obviously blows the 5870M out of the water!

Can someone confirm that the chassis of the GX60 is the same as the GX660R; and that it has the same great speakers (for a laptop!)

Cheers,

Ahhh….just can't make up my mind.

Just did a quick search and you can get an almost identical machine (same chassis etc) but with an i5 3210M and NVidia GTX675M combo for exactly the same price (note: don't need an OS, have legit full copy of Win 7) - nicely balanced but will probably be slightly slower in most games than the GX60 with its 7970M.

Expensive HDD options...already have a 128Gb Crucial M4 SSD....need a bigger 750Gb 7200rpm HDD. When you add the Momentus XT to replace the default SSD; plus adding 4Gb RAM; it pushes the price to £1,070...ie an extra £170 over the GX60 or the other alternative I've found.

So I've tried googling around lots but still to no success. How does the AMD A10-4600M come against the intel CPUs? Like the i7-3610qm in particular

From what I have gathered the A10-4600M seems to fit in with the lower end mobile I3 chips. It's gaming performance is meant to be ok, but the cpu holds the 7970 back quite a bit and causes the minimum FPS to be quite low resulting in noticeable performance spikes.

A foreign language review but has graphs and figures to look at.
