So, thoughts on the 900D, what its successor should be like and when its gonna be released.

(thinking of getting a 900D, or possibly waiting for the new one)

*new title, whats a good alternative to the 900D?

900D successor?!

The 800D was around with the dinosaurs and the 900D recently replaced it.

Expect a 900D successor in around 2050 :p
 
loool, I only started looking around for new cases recently, so I had no idea how long its been out. considering its corsair I thought there would be a new on every 1/2 years
 
Ok lets change the question, so whats a good alternative to the 900D?, (minus case labs, i wish tho!)

The caselabs one does look very awesome... but for that price, I'd expect a lot more. It costs more than my mottorsickle did!!

Conversely, I do occasionally consider getting a 900D *just* to have one. It's expensive, but I could afford it and it might even lead to some great upgrades!
 
as a 900D owner, I wouldn't but one again. the quality isn't there and they are not that special. sure they are big and bold but there must be better out there.

quick list of cons for the 900D

Crap drive caddies - seriously they are a joke
no mid plate
font pull off panel isn't a tight fight and can vibrate
no manual so you don't get to see all of the features unless you spend hours on youtube
side panel windows is tinted
not as much room on the back for cable management as you may think. if you going to make custom cables then it will be ok but for a full rig with standard cables there isn't a lot of room to hide all of them.. especially if you have a custom loop or two
5 1/4 devices sit a few mm back form the rest of the facia.
2xUSB 3 and 4xUSB 2. would have like 4xUSB 3 and 2xUSB 2
headphone jack is ridiculously tight.
******** heavy!

pros
easy to work on
good front I/O see con's though
PSU can be mounted either side
good radiator room all over.
 
Ever heard of little devil? i've never seen one up close they are a good alternative I think around £330 mark upwards other than that caselabs

Staying on ocuk's site its gotta be the Enthoo primo
 
I'm afraid caselabs are a bit too expensive for right now, Id rather spend the money elsewhere first, but the gunmetal gray SMA8!! thats my perfect case right there lol. I configured one on the site and it came to $600/£350, but I bet shipping and customs would bring that right up lol, maybe the guys that have a caselabs case can tell us?

thanks ploppy, those are the kind of thoughts I was looking for, I've only heard great things about the 900D.
 
I will almost certainly go for a caselabs next time unless Lian Li produce something amazing in the meantime. its the last time I buy a Corsair case as there are too many little annoyances.

i got sucked in by the hype really and while I dont regret the whole experience there are better manufacturers out there. Corsair will get to be one of the best if they learn from their mistakes.

its a shame that OCUK/Case Kings aren't a UK reseller for Caselabs. that would be awesome!
