Hi, my names Stew and im petrolhead  I'll start by apologising for the shoddy spelling and the fact that this project will probubly be the slowist in history partly because im lazy and partly because ive already got a sierra twin turbo project car on the go.

I changed Jobs about 2 years ago and on the site where i work there are quite a few old saabs and volvos parked up in a line. after being noisey one day walking the dog i desided to find out who owend them and try to buy a 1983 8v 900 turbo sat in the corner. Anyway to cut a long story short last week i bumped in to the owner and again asked about the car which amasingly he gave to me on the condition that i tryed to reserect it!! What a bargin ive always wanted a 900 turbo but never had one and this one is the one of my dreams apart from the lack of leather.

befor the first pics, bare in mind that she's been sat without moveing since 2002

On saterday I poped over to work with a mate to see if we could get a tune out of the engine

But found that although the engine wasnt seazed the fuel pump wasnt working. At lunch time today i pulled up the trim in the boot and was over joyed to find that i could get to the pump without droping the tank. Result!! So out came the pump. after work i atempted to get the pump to run on the work bench with the aid of WD40 a hammer and a boost pack but even with 24v put through it the pump wouldnt have it.

I'll post more when i have some progress to report. im off to ebay to find a pump

This'll be interesting, I think that the rear half of the car will be pretty rusty after sitting in that grass.

Be sure to take plenty of photos. :)

Forgot to say welcome, fellow petrolhead. :D

What sort of detail are you looking to go into hear?
Full rebuild or just get it running, change the fluids and polish it up?
With enough photos I'm sure it's going to be interesting either way.

Anyone know the torque / power stats on this engine?

Have you visited UKSaabs site yet?

Masses of useful info and knowledge there, plus the majority of them have an addiction to the classic 900, esspecially flat front T8's. There are also a lot of these being broken for spares by members too, which might help you in your long quest for parts.

You may also want to visit http://www.paradisesaabs.com/ as the guy that runs the place does incredible restoration work. (exclusively classic 900's and 99's)

1979-1985 2.0 L (1985 cc) B201, Turbo, 145 PS (143 hp/107 kW) at 5000 rpm

I can't remember torque nor can i find a brochure for it. (only got full specs on the B202 16v unit)

It's not got an intercooler by the looks of it.

^That one does have one which would be these specs.
1986-1989 2.0 L (1985 cc) B201, Intercooled turbo, 140-155 PS (138-153 hp/103-114 kW) at 5000 rpm

It'll be one of those two. I can't remember torque nor can i find a brochure for it. (only got full specs on the B202 16v unit)

Ah right well nothing mega then, (not that you'd expect on that age car) I was always under the impression they were the laggy big turbo type things. But clearly they're very small turbos.

I had one, was very fast car in its day, mine was same year but on a A plate.
Things to watch for, engine mounts are weak, gearbox check the oil (change it)
Fuel comsuption for sure and eats front tyres as they are wheelspinning machines, well mine was, did have the some tuning done on it.
Will be watching this as the 900T was one of my favourite cars I have owned, fond memories of that car.

From what i can tell, the 8v engines used a garret T3 (aka TB03), The 16v engines also ran on the same Garret turbo's and later models used mistu TE05's. The TE05 is the smaller turbo of the two. (but only used on the 16v engine)
