Hi guys,
I have been plodding along with my modest system
MSI B450m Mortar Max
Ryzen 5 3600
XFX RX 580 8gb
16gb Corsair Vengeance ddr4 3200
Corsair CM750M psu

Due to getting a new monitor at Christmas, a 27” 1440p AOC
I decided to upgrade to a 1440p graphics card for my birthday last week.
After a lot of cross referencing I finally decided to go for a 9060 XT 16gb.

Herein lays the problem.
I was unable to get the 9060 to post.
At no point has there been a signal to my monitor, instead the ‘no connection’ pop-up hits my screen and destroys me time after time after time.
I’ve uninstalled gpu with DDU,
I’ve swapped gpu, gone into the bios and changed PCIe to Gen 3
I’ve cleared the cmos multiple times. With and without my finger on the power on button.
After a couple of days trying everything I could find, doing something, swapping the gpu out, finding it didn’t work, swapping it out again and trying something else.
I decided that getting a B550 would be the most suitable option.
So I did, a shiny new MSI B550M PRO- VDH WIFI.
After installing my motherboard. Installing my 9060 XT and crossing my fingers … no post.
I swapped out the gpu and my RX 850 works fine.

Kindly excuse the ramble.

So my question is, does it sound like I’ve missed something, or does it sound like the 9060 XT is damaged?

I’ve built many, many systems, but must admit the last was about 7 years ago.
Thanks in advance.
Sean

Do you have another system you could try the GPU in?

Is your bios fully up to date?

Do you have another PCIE slot on the motherboard you could try?

Did you try a different HDMI cable or if you have HDMI have you tried Display Port instead?

How are you connecting the monitor to your PC? is it HDMI? if so have you tried a different HDMI cable or a different HDMI port on the GPU? Is it possible to try Display port instead?

To be honest it does sound like the GPU as you have tried a different GPU in the system and that works fine.

EDIT - Could you boot using the RX 850 and connect the 9060 in a 2nd PCI slot? see if its even detected once in Windows under device manager?

I’ve not checked tbh.
After not being able to post with the 9060, I just switched it out and made sure the 850 posted.
Loaded Windows, then switched it off.
How old is your original install? These cards are supposed to be run with CSM off in UEFI mode. Though, I can't say if a 9060 XT will not post in that event.

I don’t have another system to try, however, should 2 different motherboards not fulfil that criteria?
I haven’t updated the bios, I will do that now as the 850 is installed.
Unfortunately the B550 only has a single x16 PCIe, though if I can’t get the 9060 working, I will try it in the x8 slot on my Mortar Max board.
Nice thinking!
I have tried multiple hdmi leads. the last 2 of which are both high speed 4k ready.
I don’t have a display port adapter.

Just a quick follow-up to this.
The b450 motherboard has a second PCIe slot, however it is inaccessible due to the length of the 9060 XT.
Having exhausted all options, I felt for sure it has to be the psu.
Rather than replace like for like, I chose to future proof to an extent, and went for the Be Quiet 13M 1000w.
Guess what …
The 9060 XT still remains silent and still won’t post.
I contacted Overclockers and have RMA’d the 9060 XT.
Here’s hoping that my rig isn’t hiding a gremlin, and the graphics card is one of these random ones that just doesn’t work.
If not, I’ll be carting my rig to the nearest church for the good priest to deliver an exorcism.

I cannot see you mention that the PCIe cables are connected. Are they flush to the card and the power supply. Do you have a light on the motherboard. There is usually a led error light if there is a GPU failure. Let us know how you get on.
