955 core temps

Hmm, when I first applied my thermal paste, I honestly didnt have a clue, and I put far to much on. It caused the cpu to Idle at 45c. since then I was advised to put the tiniest amount on, not much bigger than a grain of rice in the centre of the cpu. My temps went down to idle at 36c so 100% check you havnt put too much on or the cooler isnt fitted perfect first. ideally @ stock it shouldn't go above 38c.

Also make sure the Mb has set the voltage correctly, the tiniest of increases and these cpu's jump up temps quickly.


Currently mine is idle at 47c Clocked at 3.6Ghz, 0.025v increase rises the temps by about 11c

right ive re seated the cooler AGAIN lol with a even smaller ammount of paste on it,

so far with the pc doing absolutely nothing its hovering around 34.4. to 35 degrees

will give it a while to bed in before i test it again,

what should the volts at stock be on a 955 ? just so i can check that it right in the bios incase for some reason its too high as someone has suggested

stock volts i think are 1.350, i run these settings if they are any help

200 fsb

19 x multi

1.5 volts

oc'd @ 3.8
 
Mine was 1.325 and I set it on 1.350 to overclock it at 3.6Ghz, But at stock Idle should be 35c if you have that within a 3 degree range its fine. :D I just orded a H50 water kit, Lian Li PC60fw and 2x640Blacks for raid:D should be here 2moz yay. Hopfully when all setup my temps will be good.
