95mph on m25 2am? right or wrong

Haha.

Sometimes I drive home late from work. I'll happily sit at 100Mph, not a mile an hour over. The only thing that worries me is the fact that I can't see as much as I can in day light.

In the day time I feel perfectly safe at 85/90mph, providing there isn't huge amounts of traffic.

I regularly drive home on the A50 between stoke and leicester between 4-5am when the road is empty and while i'd feel completely fine doing 100 i prefer to pootle along at 70, just makes it more relaxing and i'm cheap with fuel bills :D

You may get slightly cheaper fuel bills at 70 but you certainly get home quicker doing 100 ;)

dont see the problem with doing a ton on an empty motorway

but i allways stick to about 85 just to avoid hassle. Doesnt get you there much slower. On my last journey to dover to catch a 6am train at the eurotunnel i was overtaken by a police Volvo T5, who merrily sailed past me without even stopping to have a look as i was doing 85.

I see this a lot. cars driving at 71Mph on the motorway just because there is a police car driving in the inside lane. I'll happily travel past one at 80mph.

I find myself driving very oddly with regard to speed nowadays.

Today I had to drive a friend to Stanstead airport at 3:30am. The roads were clear but a little drizzly. I just sat at 65 with the cruise on, heated seats on low with Feeder's new album playing. A few times along the way, the situation occured that I'd have to use the furthermost outside lane to overtake two slower moving lanes of traffic at not much of a speed differential, requiring me to speed up a little (To about 75/80). If the driver that was waiting behind was too close, I would just hold acceleration until he wasn't - which in one instance was about 120. Then I'd let go of the accelerator and let the car drop back in to the 65 mph cruise setting.

Generally I go quite slowly indeed. I'm now averaging 32.8mpg on the computer as well, which is mostly short journeys!

Nah go for it, there are some empty stretches on the M25 where i've done the same that late. You just simply have to be aware that if you get caught you've got no one to blame but yourself

Yes but when i regularly see rude boys in 911's flying past followed by the car sat on my tail for the past 25 miles that has suddenly sprouted police lights i prefer not to take the risk

and it gives me a nice feeling inside to :D

you shouldn't drink and drive mate.

1 humour injection to go, with a side order of fries....

I never cruise at high speeds for a long time (bar on my bike) as it's just noisy, boring and uses too much petrol. Instead I do the occaisional burst up to high speeds from time to time (as it takes almost no time to hit the limiter in 5th it's hard to keep it up there), but then drop down again. It's fun for the rush of acceleration - but after that it's just a bit dull.
