Hey all,

Anyone happen to know if it's the 9600GT or the 8800GT that can suffer memory chip damage if it's clocked above 1000mhz over a period of time ?

I'm sure I read this somewhere recently, just can't remember which NV card it related to

When it first came out there were reports that the 8800GT memory interface "didn't like running at 1000MHz or above long term" - but I know people who have their GTs running at 1000-1100 for months now without a problem so hopefully its not an issue.

Well I've been running my 8800GT's at 2100mhz for a coupel of weeks and when I only had the one, 2200mhz (this new BFG card is pants to the other one though clockwise so)... haven't had any problems.

At the end of the day mate, look for artifacts, but as soon as it freezes or does odd things, just lower it... 1000mhz should be fine I reckon.

Cheers Pug

Thanks for the info guys. The 9600GT is currently running at 700 / 1850 / 2000, so I can't complain.
