I'll get one off a mate, going to leave battery disconnected for 10 minutes in morning.

Would a bad supercharger cause this? It feels software capped rather than mechanical.

Car was literally fine all day

What is probably happening is the ECU will be getting a reading from one of the sensors that's outside it's normal parameters. It could be a supercharger failure, but there would probably been other indications on this.

Most likely it's will either be an issue with a sensor, or an air or exhaust leak causing an unexpected reading.

I think it's a gear box fault now.

I've only owned a couple cars in my life so far, and on both of them a limp home error would mainly be caused by issues related to compression, air, fuel or electrical. So checking so things like bent valves, damaged pistons, fuel pumps, air sensors, turbo issues, spark plugs, coil packs etc

Gearbox would more likely to show up as not wanting to go into gear, hard shifts, slipping, jerking and noises.
