970 causing boot time to be much longer

I recently purchased a 970 after my old 6870 blew. However after installing the 970 it is stuck on the "B2" part of the boot for about a minute then continues to boot as normal. This doesn't happen for the onboard graphics. Is it possible that my motherboard BIOS is too outdated (support stopped end of 2014)? The graphics card is defunct? Or could the PCI slot be damaged from my old card?
Relevant specs:
GPU - MSI GTX 970 4GB Twin Frozr 5
PSU - OCZ ZS series 650W
MB - MSI Z77A-G43

Yeah it works fine and Afterburner is showing it runs as it should. But it's frustrating to have to wait when I specifically bought an ssd so my boot times were faster.

Probably a silly question but have you tried clearing the CMOS?

I doubt the board is told old to support a GTX 970, we have an MSI P67A-GD53 based PC here running an Asus Strix GTX 970 without any problems.

Just tried this, with no luck. Additionally I can't get to the bios without using my integrated graphics, tried to get to the bios on the GPU ended up with a black screen for ages without much luck there.

As i stated in my first post, there is no longer any new support for the motherboard. But yes. I'm on the latest version (2.13). As well as this, i'm on Windows 10 so attempting to reinstall the bios driver doesn't work as the installer is out of date.

Have you set the BIOS to UEFI (if that is an option) for the GPU?
