That is considerably less pixels that 4K but you will still need two if you want all the eye candy. AA on maximum may push you too close to the VRAM limit on some titles.

Average and minimum framerates don't tell the whole story, though, so while a pair of EVGA GTX 970 SSC cards can be blisteringly fast, a single Titan X, admittedly more expensive, has more consistent performance. We can say this because, more often than not, its worst frames are relatively close to the average framerate at 4K.

I thought 3440x1440 was 4k but as its less that probably works better for me.

Is 8gb 390x more than enough?

390X would be a huge sidegrade from a factory OCd 970! Single 980Ti would be good for your resolution and be more consistent than two 970s. 390X has loads of vram but not enough grunt with a single card to make use of it.

Reference 980ti still just 540 tho. If you can sell your current 970 for a good price it would be worth it to get the 980ti instead of another 970.

You have to remember Wide screen 3440 x 1440 is half of the number of pixels as "4k" so doesnt need anything as beefy as a 4k monitor needs.

Personally Id wait and see and see what framerates you are getting.

By then the whole fruy/nvidia thing will have settled down.

You never know, the fury pro at £420 might be enough to run it a decent framerates with all eye candy on.

Ive been running A QHD screen with a single 7970 for the last three years wihtout issue and this screen isnt much bigger.
