I remember looking at a (or at least i think it was) a 7950 GX2 that did needed external power, it was very similar to this one infact, but instead of the optical port it was a power connector!
Cant remember where I saw it now though. pretty sure it was THG but i cant find that article
Thats massive! bet it weighs a ton, if cards keep getting bigger we're going to need support wires attached to the top of the case to hold them up![]()

It wasn't the card that was that large, it was the bracket for the Dell's and such. There was a 7900GTX exactly the same. The only difference was that ATI extended the heatsink/fan while I don't think NV did.
That's no moon. It's a space station.

The daddy of big cards.. Though I think there have been bigger cards since the days of the 7900 GX2

This card will be fast; there is no question about it. Even if it is only as fast as 2x GTS in SLI, the whole point is that it's a single card that is as fast as 2 in SLI. Not everyone wants an SLI or CrossFire config; after all, that's why the X2 exists, right?
I think they are doing 2x 256bit to come up with 512... Each card is 256bit. Its 8800GTS SLi.

Over on the Foxconn booth, we spotted the new Dreadnought mainboard fitted with Foxconn's 9800GX2 graphics card.
But the poor thing looked so sad on its lonesome, especially as the Dreadnought board is capable of running three 9800GX2 cards! However, we've been assured that at least one more card is on the way to join the party when CeBIT proper starts tomorrow.
