tbh £40 tops!

I can't imagine you getting anymore than that for the card nowadays!

what games does he expect to be playing with it?
 
hmm.. £40.. i manage to play all the latest games with it. Oblivion runs fine at 800*600 res with high settings , no AA of course. Thought i might get a little for than that as i thought the 9800XT was near as damit on a par with the x800 GTO.
 
its an old card tbh! I cant imagine it running oblivion on High tho lol!

how much is he willing to pay for it anyways?
this will probs get locked down as it shouldnt really be in here for price checking ;) thats for the members market
 
Won't get much more than the £40 m8, you can pickup 6600GT's for like £50 these days and they are faster and have SM3.0 etc...

it's nowhere near that performance mate. even if it were, 800gto's are going for 50-60. 16 pipe gto2 go for around £80.

Defininately worth £40 - £50 max, also my local computer exchange shop is willing to pay £35 for my one I have at home. Anything higher would be a rip-off.
 
fair enough.. just hate parting with stuff that cost me £370 for peanuts. if thats the case ill probably be better off just giving it to him. thats the last time i buy top of the range components... mid range stuff for me from now on.

9800XT plays oblivion 800*600 most stuff on High no AA etc fine. Fears fine .. its not 100fps but ** getting average 30 fps on oblivion which is perfectly playable.

Members market - 250 posts now... ive sold/bought things in the market.. got all good feed back.. then they decided to put the post limit up 3 times. so now i cant enter. booo
 
Yeah its hard when your stuff loses value so much so quickly :( I agree tho the 9800 is still a decentish card for a casual gamer or someone who don't need all the eye candy.

Yup, the card's in my bro's computer, and he has no problems playing most of the current games out, it's going to get shifted with the new nvidia 512MB AGP card. The AGP card's on its way, I will sell on my current card to the computer exchange shop as soon as I get it..
