9800GTX or 4850

9800GTX+ would be a closer match to the 4850, but I'd probably still go for the 4850 as your more likely to find it cheaper.

Hi

So I am looking into buying a new graphics card for my system, and was wondering which card is better? The 9800GTX or the 4850?

Thanks.

why not stump up the extra and go for one of the cheap 4870's, you will be gettign serious performance then

no matter which 2 competing ATI and Nvidia cards you put against each other 1 will always be better at some games than the other and vice versa.
I would say the 4850 but if the 9800gtx performs better in games that appeal to you more go for that.
Its preference really

Wise words.

I own a 4850, and at the time of purchase, one + a decent 3rd party cooler was still a little cheaper than the GTX+

That OCUK 9800 card linked above is way better value than the 4850's at the moment imho.

i'd go for the nvidia if you wnat powerful graphics!!
but i'd go for the ATI if you want to witness the beauty of the games graphics.
