Oh dear:

"The results certainly is not looking good at all this moment but so far there isn't any driver versions that we knew can support or optimize for 9800 GX2 yet. Therefore, we got to wait a while more to see the real performance. Also, we learned that the most of the 9800GX2 cards on AIC partners' hands are non working samples and only a very few lucky ones got working cards."

Plenty of time though to get it working I suppose.

Ouch, not good at all, you think about 3 weeks is plenty of time. :p

Bah was expecting 9800GTX benchmarks, not GX2

False thread advertising TBH.

Might not improve much more, i heard its gona be slower than the 3870 X2, as they have had to downclock the GTS's as they are gving out way to much heat, and sucking way to much power, but time will tell. :p

3DMark should be illegal. It's not a good representation of the kind of performance you are going to get in proper situations, in other words, real games.

Hope the 3870 x2 is the faster card out of the two tbh, or at least trade blow for blow with the 8900gx2, it's about time ATI gave Nvidia some real competition.

Looks like at least they were sensible and used a single cooler in the centre rather than trying for a cooler on each single side :) It's what I would have done. It also keeps the components protected, although on the negative side, with the covers off it does look pretty ugly.

Hope it actually performs well (even given the first released benchmark).

Matthew

they wouldn't bring out a GX2 if it was slower then the SLi versino surely? I know it means peiople dont need sli mobos and all and it would still sell. But has there ever been a GX2 which is slower then its counter part in sli?

So when will the 9800 GTX come out? I want to build my system in the next few months and go custom water cooling too. Please don't tell me I have to wait even longer :(

I don't know would depend, it's not as if the 8800GTX had stellar drivers when it was released, infact, there were plenty of angry posts from early owners for a few months.
Just the way it works.

Edit: Also, this card wouldn't need an SLI mobo right? It would mean you could have the benefits of 2 card without ever having to go near a 680/780 chipset. Always a good thing.

This thread fails.

Needs a title change to 9800GX2, I had my hopes up there for a sec. :(

Not bothered about the overpriced, slow, problematic gx2 :p
